Part-time organist [15-20 hrs. week] for 1800-member church in metro Charlotte area with a tradition of excellence in music ministry and mission to the community. Two Sunday morning services, festival services, concerts, weddings/funerals. Accompany Chancel Choir, soloists and ensembles. Bachelor’s degree required [organ major preferred], with additional study in sacred music a plus. 5-7 years experience as an organist preferred. 73-rank, three manual Moller organ (1956/renovated 1997) and antiphonal organ in sanctuary; Cornell Zimmer organ (2006) in chapel. The applicant should demonstrate knowledge and commitment to traditional and contemporary music of the Church within a liturgical, United Methodist context. Assistant Organist/Music Associate
Myers Park United Methodist Church, a large downtown church of approximately 5,000 members in Charlotte, North Carolina, is seeking a full-time Assistant Organist/Music Associate for a well-established, vibrant, and growing music program.
The Assistant Organist/Music Associate will be a member of the Church's professional staff, reporting to the Director of Music. Job requirements include, but are not limited to: providing organ and piano accompaniment to various choirs and ensembles, assisting with service music in Sunday worship and other services throughout the year, and directing/overseeing the instrumental ensembles. Current instrumental groups are the adult Handbell Choir and Strings Ensemble. The Assistant organist will also share the responsibilities of the many weddings (extra fee) and funerals which take place throughout the year.
Desired Experience and Attributes:
- - Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- - Good understanding of The United Methodist Church worship practices and liturgy.
- - Experience as an accompanist.
- - Ability to manage logistics of worship services including managing the timing of the service.
- - Conducting experience.
- - Excellent interpersonal skills, able to work in a team environment.
- - Proven leadership and organizational skills.

Part-Time Organist
First Presbyterian Church, Hilton Head Island SC, is seeking a church organist for immediate employment. Responsibilities include playing the organ for two-traditional Sunday morning worship services (and other services, weddings, etc., as required), accompanying the Chancel Choir, weekly rehearsals, and assisting the Minister of Music in the administration of the music ministry program.
First Presbyterian has a rich and distinguished tradition of excellence in music ministry. One of the largest churches in the Charleston Atlantic Presbytery, First Presbyterian has a membership of over 1500 and is located on beautiful Hilton Head Island, SC. The instrument is a three-manual pipe organ built in 1988 by the Austin Organ, Inc. and contains 48 ranks with remote Trompette à Chamade.
Bachelors Degree in Music (organ) required (Masters Degree preferred) with secondary skills in piano accompaniment. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
